An action by the children of the PYXIDA Intercultural Center and the children of the 35th Primary School of Athens.
On December 10, Human Rights Day, children attending the project of Intercultural Center PYXIDA, called “School Without School”, were part of a very special occasion. The children of the 35th Primary School of Athens, in Koletti street, cooperated and played together, with the theme of the right to education for all. Painting and singing, they brought to life a fairy tale in which the animals in a forest try to find solutions for other animals, who have fled their homes because of a fire. Former Children’s Ombudsman George Moschos, as well as students of the Athens School of Fine Arts and their teacher Ermioni Deli worked together on a story of inclusion and acceptance.
The message of the children of PYXIDA and the 35th Primary School is that the school must include all children and that this is beneficial for the whole school community. The right to education for all (Article 26 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Article 28 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child) must be actively supported by the State, as well as by school principals and teachers 'and parents' associations. Refugees, who are currently facing barriers to access to education, must immediately join the Greek public school! This is what the children of PYXIDA and the 35th Primary School of Athens demanded, sang and painted about.
