The State of the Rule of Law in Greece

There is now an urgent need to address the chronic problems concerning the rule of law in Greece. The organizations HIAS Greece, Refugee Support in the Aegean (RSA), Vouliwatch, the Greek Council for Refugees (GCR), the Hellenic League for Human Rights (HLHR), Homo Digitalis, Reporters United, and Solomon monitor and highlight the systemic dysfunctions and weaknesses of Greek institutions in their most recent annual report. The issues documented are interrelated and have extremely adverse effects on a range of aspects of the rule of law, from justice, legislation, and transparency rules to freedom of the press, civil society, and the protection of personal data.
