The main objective of the project is to promote and enhance the protection of asylum seekers from pushback and to provide access to asylum procedures.
A team consisting of two lawyers and two interpreters (based in Athens and Thessaloniki) will monitor, record and handle cases of potential refoulements at the Greek-Turkish border. The lawyers will register the cases in the Informal Forced Returns Registration Mechanism.
Through this intervention, we aspire for the GCR to continue and strengthen its important contribution in protecting asylum seekers from refoulement practices and highlighting these illegal practices through legal and advocacy actions.
