The programme provides psychological support services to children and parents of refugees and migrants with the ultimate goal of holistic coverage of the needs and psychosocial support of the population and acts complementary to the other services offered within the framework of the Intercultural Centre Pyxida.
The psychological support service is complementary to the other services offered within the framework of the Intercultural Centre Pyxis. In particular, it concerns psychological support services to children and parents of refugees and migrants with the ultimate goal of holistic coverage of the needs and psychosocial support of the population. More specifically, the following services are provided:
-Diagnosis and assessment of individual needs
- Psychological support for children and adolescents and their families
- Parents Group
- Individual Parent Counseling
- Group and individual sessions of support and learning - strengthening life skills for children, adolescents and parents
- Liaison with services, cooperation with external mental health agencies, assistance in the procedures for enrolling children in public education.
-240 children received direct psychological support from the Center’s Child Psychologist.
-756 children and 41 parents/guardians benefited from PYXIDA’s psychosocial and educational services.
-Complementary services provided: non-formal education, school enrollment support and follow-up, participation in cultural activities, and educational camps.
-Support for children affected by violence, forced displacement, loss, and trauma.
-Close collaboration with social services of accommodation sites, schools, public agencies, and NGOs.
