Objectives
•To contribute to ensuring that the safety, dignity and human rights of all people on the move are respected and their access to essential services in Greece is granted.
•To adapt the social services and psychosocial support to asylum seekers in Greece to the new constraints posed by COVID-19 and beyond.
Activities
•Distribution of food and non-food packages, and emergency items vouchers
•Support refugee women and girls through the SAO Association Hellas, Bashira Centre for Displaced Women operating in Mytilene, Lesvos
•Online helpdesk to provide information, psychosocial support and hygiene promotion messaging, focusing on the pandemic but also addressing the needs of asylum seekers more holistically, for the months to come and after the COVID-19 pandemic.
Results
Asylum seekers and refugees from all over Greece are enabled to cope with the COVID-19 pandemic, have access to the psychosocial support they need, have access to hygiene promotion messaging and/or are referred to other needed services through the helpdesk/direct access by GCR staff.
