Objectives

-To develop and pilot a specialized counselling methodology for refugee and migrant women who are survivors of gender-based violence.

-To promote empowerment and recovery through a trauma-informed, gender-sensitive, and culturally responsive counselling approach.

-To strengthen the capacity of professionals (psychologists, social workers, legal advisors, etc.) working with survivors of violence through targeted training and supervision.

-To create a safe and supportive space for women to express themselves, engage in healing processes, and build social networks.

-To disseminate the methodology and key outcomes to stakeholders and professionals working in psychosocial support and women’s protection services.

Activities

1. Needs exploration & co‑design
Facilitation of focus groups with refugee women survivors of gender-based violence to capture their needs, perceptions, and preferences, informing the design of the counselling methodology.

2. Counselor Training
Delivery of specialized training workshops for psychologists, social workers, and legal professionals, focusing on vulnerable groups, intercultural competency, gender sensitivity, and trauma-informed counselling.

3. Pilot method implementation
Application of the co-designed counselling methodology with individual refugee survivors, including therapeutic sessions, empowerment support, and progress monitoring.

4. Empowerment support workshops
Organization of group workshops aimed at boosting self-esteem, providing legal information, promoting self-care, and creating peer support networks.

5. Referrals & partnership coordination
Networking with healthcare providers, asylum services, employment support agencies, and women’s protection centers to offer safe and holistic support pathways.

6. Evaluation & feedback
Ongoing data collection from participants, counsellors, and social partners to refine the methodology and improve user experience.

7. Results dissemination
Preparation of a comprehensive report and hosting webinars or local workshops to share findings with stakeholders and social service providers.
