“THOSE WHO SURVIVED”

Athens, 15 June 2016

Greek Council for Refugees, Day Center BABEL and Médecins Sans Frontières, have the pleasure of inviting you to an open event on the occasion of the International Day in Support of Victims of Torture, on Thursday 23 June, at 18.00, at Impact Hub Athens.

The event aims to raise awareness about the challenges refugees who have been subjected to persecution and torture in their countries of origin due to their political or religious beliefs, their ethnic origin, their gender or their sexual orientation, face in Greece today. The event will include presentations by representatives of the three organizations, the screening of audiovisual material and an open discussion with the public.

Since October 2014, Médecins Sans Frontières and the project
“Prometheus II: Enhancing the Rehabilitation of Torture Victims in Greece"
[1]
(implemented by the Greek Council for Refugees and Day Center BABEL) have supported more than 300 survivors of torture and extreme violence from 35 countries with medical and psychological care, legal and social assistance.

It focuses on the difficulties they face in the process of their rehabilitation and their integration in Greece. Excerpts from the documentary will be screened at the event.

The event will take place at Impact Hub Athens, Karaiskaki 28, Psiri, 105 54, Athens, Tel: 210 32 10 146.
