Τhe Greek Council for Refugees highlights the importance of UNHCR’s call, , which urges the Greek government to undertake immediate action in order to decongest the Aegean islands and addresses local authorities to assist in the effort to locate suitable accommodation and hospitality facilities for people entitled to international protection in our country. Having a background of 30 years at the service of refugees, we reiterate our intention to support the efforts of the Greek state in order for the extremely harsh conditions in the Aegean islands to be terminated and for the problem of refugee reception, as developed in the country in recent years, to be managed.
